Alume Di Rocca
Posted by Si on 7th Oct 2016
I thought I had bought an Italian Alum block, Only to find it has made in china. Just wet it and gently rub on shaved area. Stings for a millisecond but it is a decent product.

Does the trick at a great price
Posted by Norm on 25th Jul 2016
Ok, so this is an alum block. If you are familiar with alum, then you know what to expect. The best thing about this is its price. It is a bit cheaper than most, especially as I caught it on sale. As usual, Shaving.ie provides top-quality products cheaper than most. Even with shipping to Asia, the prices compare well to other retailers and ship promptly. The block is a decent size and should last a very long time if you dry it after use and don't drop it. I like how alum tightens, soothes my skin, indicates where I irritated my skin and clots any weepers. Leaves my skin ready for my post-shave balm. Good product.

Does what alum should do !

A simple product that simply works. I suppose Block Alum is Block Alum. This one is a little cheaper then others but does the job perfectly. I am well pleased and would certainly buy it again.

hot and cold`
Posted by Barry on 17th Nov 2015
I only recently started using DE razors and alum blocks. This is a simple but significant addition to a shave. I've used it after every shave and it's done a lot for my skin compared to not using one.
It's a strange sensation, in spots where you get too close it stings and gets quite hot but one the rest of your face it just feels smooth and cool. I'm not going to shave without one!

Decent toner, excellent bleed stopper
Posted by T.K. on 13th Aug 2014
A basic necessity for any shaving kit. The price is unbeatable, as you can get a lot of use out of the stone, and it works as both a toner and a bleed-stopper. Much better than cut-sealing gels etc. that leave a visible, rigid residue. I have not tried 'burn healing' products as I have no need for them - aftershave is enough. After a quick wet rub my skin feels smooth and any bleeding will stop. The sensation is a tingling or stinging that may linger. Overall it's comfortable, just apply aftershave or moisturiser. The stone is heavy but easy to hold, fits snugly between thumb and index+middle finger.

Very Important part of your shave kit
Posted by Ger on 12th Mar 2014
This is the along with pre shaving cream is one of the most important items you should own if you are new to DE shaving. It does give a slight stinging feeling to let you know where you went to rough but it does cool down your face and closes up those nicks. I cant recommend this Alum block enough, well worth the price as it provides 100% comfort.

Allum or styptic?
Posted by Mark. on 29th Jan 2014
It has to be allum. The styptic pencil gets messy very quickly but the allum block is cleaned easily and lasts longer. The allum block does not break in half like the pencil simply because of its shape and is therefore much more user-friendly.

An Absolute Must Have
Posted by John O'Brien on 27th Dec 2013
I have used styptic pencils in the past but find that they tend to disintegrate or break when they get wet. This block has worked really well for me for the past year and as it's solid doesn't break or melt when wet.
