Semogue 2040 HD Finest Badger Brush is the largest badger brush in the Hereditas range, a 24mm Finest grade knot packed to high density in a glossy black acrylic handle.
The step up from 22mm to 24mm is bigger than it sounds. Surface area climbs faster than diameter does, so the knot carries noticeably more lather and covers the face in fewer strokes.
High density packing means it barely splays under pressure. That gives precise, controlled lathering and a great deal of water capacity, which is why the HD models cost more than their standard equivalents despite looking much the same on a shelf.
This is a brush for someone who already knows they like a large, firm knot. Semogue keeps the HD designation for its most tightly packed knots across the range.

How to Use
- Soak the knot and then squeeze it out firmly, as it will hold a lot of water
- Take a full load from the soap, giving the dense knot time to fill
- Lather on the face and let the firmness of the knot do the work
- Add water in very small amounts, since the knot is already carrying plenty
- Rinse the knot right through and allow it to dry fully before the next shave
