I'm new to straight razor shaving so I get quiet a bit of irritation. This seems to help more than anything. It does leave a bit of protection after drying that those with dry skin or dry environment will appreciate. Mild scent.
I'm also a Weleda products user and there is definitely a challenger. This Specik Balm smells strong herbal cocktail and is very pleasant, make you feel a "real man" although it gets absorbed quickly by your skin and leaves a very powerful hydration and skin flexibility which I really appreciate (sensitive skin) ...you'll know what I mean when you use it. I use it in combination with other Speick products. I love using the Intensive cream after the Speick aftershave balm as it will keep my skin fed even longer. It doesn't leave a greasy face, highly appreciated.
Got this to match and use straight after the Speick splash. The splash is an excellent performer but I am only OK with its scent - however this balm is fantastic on all counts and has perfect spread-ability, absorption and face feel. It seems a little bit more citrusy and less herby than the splash, which is fine by me!
Absorbs quick and moisturizes for hours. Light scent shouldn't clash with your cologne but you do occasionally catch the scent during the day.
My first bottle of this lasted forever, it was much thinner and spread further. They've changed it, and to begin with I felt short-changed, they kept the price the same but put a third less in a tube. That said, after using it a while, I can say they've made it better than before; a fresher scent, although still unmistakably Speick, a thicker balm that may not spread as far, but absorbs very well. I use it after a splash, so can't offer an opinion on its soothing/healing abilities. But as an after shave moisturiser, it's very good.
