both products are very nice ,the shave cream is as good is as any CF product, the balm is a little pungent probably for many, but I am a retired carpenter and the scent reminds me of when carpenters actually used real wood.
Must take issue with the first review! CF produces volumes and volumes of marvelous lather at any consistency you prefer. It literally takes a pea-sized amount to produce enough lather for 4-5 passes. And the lather is as slick and protective as most anything out there! Everyone owes it to themselves to try CF at least once!
Consistency: Thicker consistency, still a cream but thicker / drier than most. Wouldn't need quite as much as typical to produce a lot of lather. Fragrance : 6.5. The cedar overwhelms the sandalwood and has that slightly sharp smell. Not hideous but not the most inviting. Cedar is an acquired scent. . Lather: 8. Very easy to get plenty of lather. Though lather is not as creamy thick as others and as it's a thicker dry cream it doesn't all dissolve down to lather. Shave: 8.0. Being a slightly thinner lather it didn't dry out by the 3rd pass. Razor clog. 9. Easy to rinse off razor while shaving. Aftershave moisturisation: 7.5 Left the skin feeling only slightly moisturised but quite acceptable. Overall: 7.5 Recommend? Unsure. Scent isn't a winner. Easy to lather but lather a little thin. Does the job ok, better than others though not as good as many.
