Good brush for face lathering
Posted by Si on 12th Apr 2016
This is a great small brush that works great for face lathering (I don't do bowl lathering so can't comment on that). It has a nice backbone or "stiffness" to it unlike some badger brushes. I used this brush for about a month but dropped it favour of the bigger Omega 48 which I liked better. I usually shave every 3-4 days (because I'm lazy) and due to my fast beard growth I have a fairly lengthy stubble by then. This small brush just doesn't create enough lather for the full 3-pass shave + a clean-up that I usually do. I'd have to re-lather for that. With the Omega 48 I have more than enough with just one lathering.
The handle - although it looks very nice - is also a bit too small for my preference. The bigger handle of the Omega 48 gives a more comfortable grip for me. I also don't like how the boar hair has been dyed to look like badger hair. In my opinion it doesn't add to the aesthetic, and even if it did the dye started fading a bit after two weeks of use.
While the brush is still nice value for the money (I paid 17.95€) it isn't fantastic value for a boar brush. If having a nice acrylic handle, a metal ring around the knot, and dyed boar hair isn't important to you there are cheaper options for a brush of this size.
Bottom line: if you shave regularly, don't let your stubble grow for very long, and like how the brush looks it's a good choice.

As others said: Great out of the box

Great brush! I have bought the 620 and 1305 (couldn't decide on handle size and material). After two weeks of use, I can tell that I prefer the 620, because it has a better backbone and provides a very good lather out of the box.
I still couldn't make a good lather with the 1305.

Great brush - and great value for money

If you have had difficulties lathering hard soaps (such as MWF) with a badger brush, you may want to give this little devil a try. After 5-10 shaves or so, it produces rich amounts of excellent lather. Soaps that I had given up on, using only my badger brush, have gone back into my rotation after I started using this brush. Much to my surprise, it works fine with creams as well.

Firm backbone scrubby brush
Posted by Max on 22nd Sep 2013
Used this for 4 shaves now and it is breaking in nicely. It is a brush with a firm backbone & gives a nice scrubby sensation on the skin when face lathering. I find it works equally well when using shaving soaps and creams. The logo sticker is applied to the attractive acrylic handle. My personal preference is that I prefer a slightly longer handle. Overall it’s a great performing & good value brush. Buy one, you won’t be disappointed!

Firm

Having tried best, super and other types of badger hair as well as synthetic brushes, I decided to try a boar brush. This Semogue has to be the best kept secret in shave brushes. Looks as good as it lathers. Great with both soaps and creams. Good and stiff / firm, gives a great start to your shave.
