Semogue Owners Club Finest Badger Cherry is a 24mm Finest grade badger knot in an engraved cherry handle, from the range where Semogue puts its better handle work.

Finest is a higher grade than the hair used in the numbered models. It's longer and finer, and left with its natural tapered tip rather than trimmed to shape, which is what gives the soft feel at the face without losing the backbone lower down the knot.

It produces a rich, thick lather across a range of soaps and creams, with enough capacity at 24mm that reloading mid-shave is rarely needed. A wide knot at a short loft is a deliberately firm combination, so the brush holds its shape under pressure while the soft tips give a pleasant, almost massaging feel against the skin.

Cherry is close-grained and darkens as it's handled, so the brush will look warmer with age, and the Owners Club marking is engraved into the wood.

How to Use

• Wet the knot in warm water and shake out what it does not need
• Load from soap or cream, letting the tips do the work without pressing hard
• Lather on the face, where the short knot height is most effective
• Add water in small amounts and keep working until the lather is slick
• Rinse fully, wipe the handle dry and stand the brush knot down
