Stirling Bonafide Shaving Soap is a tallow based artisan soap made in Ohio by Stirling Soap Company, and the maker rates it as the most office friendly scent in the range. It is Stirling's reading of Prada L'Homme, opening on neroli, black pepper, cardamom and carrot seed.
The middle brings iris, violet, geranium and mate, then it settles onto amber, cedar, patchouli and sandalwood. The overall effect is soft and powdery rather than loud, so it is easy to wear on a weekday morning without carrying a strong fragrance into work.
Underneath the scent sits Stirling's long running tallow formula. Beef tallow and stearic acid give the lather its structure, while castor oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, coconut milk and lanolin keep it cushioned and leave the skin comfortable once the shave is done.
Key Features
- Powdery iris and violet over amber, cedar, patchouli and sandalwood, quiet enough for office wear.
- Tallow based, so this is not one for anyone looking specifically for a vegan shaving soap.
- Lanolin, shea butter and sweet almond oil suit dry or easily irritated skin.
- Loads quickly from the tub and builds a dense lather in a bowl or straight on the face.
How to Use
- Soak your brush in warm water and shake out the excess.
- Load from the tub for around thirty seconds, until the brush is packed with a thick paste.
- Work the lather up on your face or in a bowl, adding water a few drops at a time until it turns glossy.
- Reload for each pass if you like a fresher, wetter lather.
