Tenax Clay Pomade is a water based styling clay made in Italy by Ludovico Martelli, the Florentine company founded in 1908 that also makes Proraso. It is rated at nine out of ten for hold and finishes matte, so it holds a shape firmly without leaving any shine behind.
The texture comes from fuller's earth clay worked into a water based emulsion with cetearyl alcohol, hydrogenated castor oil, glycerin, beeswax and coconut oil. Because the formula is water soluble it rinses out with shampoo and does not need repeated washes to shift.
It is aimed at short to medium hair and at the kind of styles that need separation rather than a slick finish, so textured crops, messy quiffs and anything you want to look thicker than it is.
Key Features
- Strong hold, rated nine out of ten by Tenax, with a natural matte finish.
- Fuller's earth clay adds texture and body to fine or flat hair.
- Water soluble, so it washes out easily and leaves no build up.
- Reworkable through the day by wetting your hands and running them through the hair.
- Made in Italy by the same family firm behind Proraso.
How to Use
- Take a small amount, roughly the size of a hazelnut to start with, and emulsify it between your palms.
- Work it evenly through damp or dry hair, starting at the roots.
- Shape the style with your fingers, or blow dry for extra height.
- Add water to your hands and rework it later in the day if the hold has softened.
