My very first purchase with Shaving.ie
Very pleased with this product and the speed of its shipping.
I am a Complete Newbie with DE Safety Razors.
I fully recommend this Razor based on Newbie experience. Do not fear this Razor, it's solidity and weight are part of it's secret to success. It is well balanced and it's weight just needs guidance. No need to press into your skin you'll know when you have the correct shaving angle when you hear audible feedback from the Razor as it begins to engage with the hairs it is cutting. Let it glide using its own weight.
My Tip: This Razor is of excellent quality in all aspects of it's appearance, materials, and has great quality of construction. One side of the Razors top cap has a thumb rest at the side which when pressed upwards helps to easily pop the cap up, which then makes lifting the other side up easier for blade insertion or removal. Much easier and safer than trying to pull the cap off squarely in one go.
My Experience with My first use of the Razor:
I should say at the outset that I have very sensitive skin.
Used the razor with it set on 1.
Used the Merkur Superior Blade that came with the Razor.
I had 6 days of stubble growth.
I used a shaving oil.
1st pass removed almost all stubble cleanly and smoothly. 2nd pass removed the remaining stubble against the grain. Some light buffing afterwards to finish.
The result; a super close, smooth shave that frankly was the best & closest shave of my shaving experience to date. Not a single cut, nick or any irritation or redness. Super close shave leaving me with soft smooth skin and no drama.
I will be buying again from Shaving.ie and I am now a full convert to Safety Razor shaving thanks to the Merkur Futur.

While researching the purchase of my newest razor,Merkur Futur Polished Chrome, I found this website. I found the service to be exceptional, responding to my questions in less then 1-hour. The merchandise was shipped and delivered almost as quickly as orders made within the U.S.A. I found the Quality of the Futur razor to exceed my expectation. I would also like to address two issues some have reported in their reviews. The loading and unloading of DE razor blades could not be simpler.The polished chrome finish is not slippery while applying shaving soap, in fact i found the soap creates a residue on the handle resulting in a tacky feeling. The razor is built like a tank and performs with precision. The fact the razor is constructed of solid materials thus weighing more than most razors. As a result use a very light touch, no pressure, razor does all the work. I highly recommend both Shaving.ie and the Merku Futur

I have a collection of numerous safety razors numbering over 12 but when I used the Merkur Futur, I was blown away at how simple it was to use and how close the shave was. Even on the lowest setting the shave after 2 passes was really smooth. There are some who say that the Futur is difficult to use under the nose but I've had no such issues.
My over riding concern is what to do with the other safety razors that probably won't be used for a very Long time.

I have been using Futur four months and I find it suitable many different occasions. Depending of the blade sharpness, you can adjust the razor and make it shave more or less aggressively. At the setting one it is very difficult to cut yourself but you get a clean shave.

I had been using a plastic Wilkinson Sword Classic so decided to treat myself to something nice. the Futur caught my eye as it looked solid, and was adjustable. I was not sure to go for the satin chrome or the gold version but settled on the matt chrome. I ordered a sample pack of blades and put a feather into it. People keep mentioning you work up to using a feather blade so I skipped passed all the working up part and it was the first blade I tried. WOW! I was not expecting it to be so heavy. When I put it down on the sink it went CLANK! which surprised me I was not used to it after using a plastic body safety razor for so long. I'm not used to different brands of blades so I put the Merkur Futur on setting 1 to try it. I was extra careful and took things slow very aware that this famous feather blade was considered very sharp compared to other brands. I used Trumpers violet shaving cream (Something I need to get used to as used to shaving gel)and a badger brush. The lather no matter how much I worked it felt awful thin and my face did not really feel protected but I think that was me not used to a thinner lather. I could "hear" and "feel" the difference immediately. I started to shave with no pressure and let the weight of the Futur razor do the work it was a relaxing experience. I only had a day’s stubble and I'm fair haired so I doubt my growth is anything super strong/coarse (I don't know the method that men compare how coarse their beards are with each other.......) I was used to shaving with a cheap safety razor so I was not too worried about adjusting the angle of the blade as I shaved. When I finished I felt I needed to go over my face again with a new lather so perhaps (If I was not doing anything wrong) the 1 setting is very very mild and I need to up it a little for a slightly aggressive shave. (Being able to do this is a great feature) I'm prone to a few spots still in my later 30's from time to time, so I was delighted I had no nicks/cuts after shaving and that my skin was not agitated. No razor burn at all which is a good sign. All in all, very very happy with my new purchase and will enjoy taking my time shaving instead of trying to rush out the door in the mornings and shave as fast as possible.

The Merkur Futur razor is heavy, but shaves beautifully. I cannot wait to see how it will perform with a 3 days beard. My first impression is - absolutely fantastic, as expected. Kudos to the shaving.ie for their excellent service!
