So far so good
Posted by Brian on 26th Nov 2020
I've used the brush about 5 times so far. It's firmer that my previous brush, I expect it may soften a little. It has shed a small number of bristles. Happy so far.

Good backbone

I have been using the brush for over a week now. It performs really well. Still shedding a few bristles but it is getting softer after each shave. A great brush at a great price!

Semogue boar brushes are great
Posted by Harold Roland on 16th Jul 2015
This is my second Semogue boar brush and they are wonderful. This brush had a very light smell and was completely gone after two uses. These brushes are almost broken in when you receive them.

A very nice brush

Mine is not fully broke-in yet. The brush is very good looking with a nice feel in the hand. Makes a rich lather. I use this brush often and recommend it.

Pure bristle pleasure
Posted by The New Shaver on 9th Dec 2014
An excellent brush, soft yet with plenty of backbone. It's still breaking in after about 10 latherings, but I'm very pleased with its performance. If you haven't used boar bristle before, you might think its going to be a bit hard, but this one is actually softer than a full badger brush. I use it particularly with some of the harder soap pucks, and it does the business. You will loose a few bristles initially, but nothing severe. Highly recommended.

Thank You Very Much Mr. Gomes
Posted by Will on 28th Jul 2014
Totally deserves the 5 Stars I have given it. An excellent brush that creates a rich thick lather in no time at all. I'm using Taylor of Bond Street Sandalwood cream and this brush really brings it up to a fantastic lather. The handle is shaped for fine & delicate brushwork with your fingertips and the bristle quality is very good, not overly soft so as not to glide over your skin without working the hair up. Only snag is the colour but what does that matter really??? Bargain price too for this quality.

I'm slowly getting used to the brush, but so far it seems pretty darn good!

I have only Badger brushes but i wanted to try a Semogue Boar Brush. Beautiful and very sturdy brush. Very nice backbone, soft bristle and firm knot.

Perfect brush!
Posted by Niels on 2nd May 2014
After following the recommendation from other shavers I decided to purchase this brush. I really love it and it has become my favorite brush. The brush is nice and large (good for both face and bowl lathering) and soft yet also nice and firm. Well recommended and for this price it's really a bargain.

This brush is superb against my other brushes. Bristles break-in quickly and an excellent lather achieved.

Lovely Boar
Posted by Mark on 5th Feb 2014
I have become a huge fan of the Semogue brushes. This was the first boar brush I have bought and used. Once the brush "broke" in, the bristles were soft but the knot was still stiff. The lather quality using both face and mug lathering was exemplary - very thick and smooth. I easily get 3 passes from this brush and an almond-sized scoop of shaving cream. I don't think the smell of the brush is an issue and generally goes after a couple of uses. I would definitely recommend it.

Why are you waiting, buy it now!

I got an EJ badger when I started DE shaving a year ago and used that for a while quite happily, although it wasn't quite what I wanted as I prefer to face lather. I read all the reviews here and on various forums and ordered this Semogue 1305 brush back in May. The service was excellent as I knew it would be and the brush looked absolutely lovely. I have used it every day since and although it has soften up quite a lot since I started using it I didn't find it a problem initially. It did have a slight smell which has long since gone and all I can say is this is worth more than the asking price and is a superb brush, I can't fault it.

one of the best brushes

This Semogue is one of the best brushes ever made if you ask me, when broken in it will be super soft and feel lovely on the face. The handle is great too.

Its great...

Now I love these Semogue and Omega Boars. But Badger is softer they say. So what? Softer. Are we men or mice (I chose that word in place of others more appropriate in less PC times). Boar works better with soaps and when a good boar, like this is loaded with soap and applied to your face, tell me honestly, what is the difference between it and a badger brush. I'll tell you. About 10 to 50 Quid. This is a lovely brush that only needs soaking in warm water to break in. Its fine with creams and IMHO better than my badgers with hard soap. Its only problem is that the green bit on the handle discolours in hard London water.

Well Worth It
Posted by Rob on 22nd Sep 2013
Fantastic brush, my first boar too. Great feel and finish to the brush itself, and it lathers like a beast. I would recommend this brush. It lost a star though because it does take a while to 'break in' unlike a badger. Having said that, the price is fantastic and it's worth the effort.

Amazing

An excellent brush, very soft, breaks in easily, well constructed, not expensive, durable, very nice "vintage" design and made by a very traditional Portuguese company. What more can you ask for.

A Fabulous Brush.

I bought two of these 1305s - one for me and one as a present. After about 10 days it is now 'broken in' and working beautifully. I use mine exclusively with soap and what a gem it is!! It looks good, feels good and by golly it does you good. Nice price, very good company to deal with but above all enjoy this brush.
