Semogue 2000 is Semogue's biggest boar brush, built around a 24mm knot that holds enough water and lather for a full three-pass shave without reloading.

Like all boar, it keeps improving the more you use it. The bristle softens and the lather gets richer with every shave, and a few weeks of regular use is enough to settle it in properly, all without losing the backbone that makes a wide knot like this so good at working a hard soap.

The grade is Extra, and the tall loft gives the tips plenty of room to flex, which is part of why the brush feels surprisingly gentle for its size once it's settled in.

Ash is left natural and matte here, pale and light for its size, so even with a big wet knot on top the brush never feels top-heavy. At 113mm overall, it's built for anyone who wants serious capacity from a single brush.

Key Features

  • 24mm Extra grade boar knot at a 58mm knot height
  • The largest boar knot in Semogue's Hereditas range
  • Holds enough lather for three passes from one load
  • Natural ash handle with a matte finish and aluminium ring
  • 113mm overall, made in Portugal

How to Use

  • Give a new brush several warm soaks to start the tips splitting
  • Wet the knot fully, then squeeze rather than shake out the surplus
  • Take a generous load from the soap, since the knot has capacity to fill
  • Lather in a bowl if you want to see how much the brush is holding
  • Rinse well and dry with the bristles pointing downward

    Great brush for hard soap

Posted by Dannyboy on 3rd May 2021

After breaking the brush in for 24 hours in a cup of water in the fridge (found that tip on YouTube) it makes a great lather with hard soap, much better than my badger brush. The handle is also nice and big which helps using the shaving mug. However it's too big to fit in my plastic Bluebeard brush holder. The price is reasonable. The knot is nice and big as well.

I've been using badger brushes for years and wanted to try boar. this is a nice brush with plenty of bristles and the wooden handle gives a good grip. i don't think it lathers quite as good as my badger brushes but at this price you cant complain.

    Excellent

Build quality & craftsmanship is unparalleled amongst boar brushes. Superb look and feel. Excellent quality boar bristles. Exceptional. However, beware of the Muhle "universal" razor & brush stand as the knot is a touch too big for it.

    Very surprised

Posted by Tom on 30th Jul 2014

I had always wanted to try this brush being a fan of Semogue brushes and finally took the plunge. This brush turned out to be a huge surprise as I was thinking it might be a bit too big for face lathering but how wrong I was. I have only had it a short time but it is breaking in beautifully. The backbone of this brush makes it perfect for face lathering this is a beautiful brush.

    Best Brush

Having bought my Semogue a couple of months ago I can say it is one of the best brushes I own. The 2000 is a nice addition to my collection and worth every cent.
