Semogue Owners Club Finest Badger Ash is the pale-handled version of the Owners Club badger, a 24mm Finest grade knot in engraved ash.
Finest hair is long enough to be set without cutting, so the tips that meet your skin are the natural ends of the hair rather than a cut edge. That combination of soft tips and stiffer hair further down the knot is what gives this grade unusually good backbone for how gentle it feels.
Ash is pale and open-grained, finished natural and matte, and unlike cherry it won't darken with use. The handle should look much the same in a decade as it does today.
A short loft on a wide knot keeps the brush firm despite how fine the hair is, so it lathers with control and produces a noticeably rich lather without needing to reload partway through a shave.

How to Use
- Soak the knot briefly in warm water and shake the surplus off
- Load from the soap using the tips rather than pressing into the knot
- Build the lather on the face in slow circles
- Add water gradually until the lather takes on a wet shine
- Rinse the knot out fully and dry the handle before storing bristles down

Top Quality Brush
This brush looks and feels great! It does cost a little more but well worth the bit extra.

A Beast of Brush
The first thing I noticed when taking the brush out of the box was the quality of the craftsmanship. The brush was dense and very stiff. The handle was beautifully shaped. I picked Ash over Cherry as Ash is a favourite wood of mine. The brush is a mop for water and produces rich, creamy lather using a cream. I have yet to try this with soap, but I think with the density of the bristles and the stiffness of the knot, it should be an excellent soap latherer as well. A lovely brush and an exemplary lathering tool for both hand, face and bowl techniques.
