Mistura is Semogue's blended knot, combining badger hair with boar bristle.
The blend gives a lather with more backbone than a pure badger brush while remaining softer against the skin than a pure boar knot. Boar contributes stiffness and the scrubby feel that lifts a beard, badger contributes water retention and soft tips, and the result holds water through a full shave without the initial harshness a new boar knot has.
Ash is a pale, straight-grained timber finished natural and matte here, so the figure varies across individual brushes and the handle keeps its colour rather than darkening the way the cherry version does.
